The Flower Festival began blooming in 1952, planted firmly in the city’s rich floral heritage. What started as an effort to highlight Lompoc’s lush flower fields and stand out from California’s many rodeo-style festivals has since grown into a five-day celebration. The roots of the event trace back even further to the Alpha Club’s original flower show of 1922. Today, the festival features a lively carnival, captivating mainstage entertainment, delicious food booths, unique artisan vendors, and the elegant crowning of the Flower Festival Queen. But the parade? That’s the grand floral finale everyone waits for.
Parade Magic in Full Bloom
The Flower Festival Parade kicks off bright and early at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. The route marches proudly down H Street, turns west onto Ocean Avenue, and wraps up on South O Street—so grab your lawn chairs, stake out a good spot, and prepare to be wowed!
Each float is a living work of art, lovingly decorated with fresh flowers and natural materials by local schools, nonprofits, and community organizations. You’ll be treated to heart-thumping marching bands, dazzling drill teams, majestic equestrian groups, whimsical clowns, and more. It’s a joyful blend of creativity, tradition, and showmanship that reflects the heart and soul of Lompoc.
